Marrakech airport shuttle bus: every option compared
The airport bus to the centre costs about 3 euros. Here is what else runs from the airport by bus or shuttle, and the point where a private car becomes cheaper.
By the Medina Transfers team · Updated 14 October 2026
The Marrakech airport shuttle bus is line 19. It costs 30 dirhams, about 3 euros, per person to the city centre: Jemaa el-Fna, Gueliz and the train station. It runs from early morning to the evening, about every 20 minutes. There is no bus from the terminal to other cities: coaches to Essaouira and Agadir leave from their stations in town.
All the bus and shuttle options from the airport
| Option | Where to | Price | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Airport bus, line 19 | Jemaa el-Fna, Gueliz, train station | 30 dirhams (about 3 euros), 50 return | Cash to the driver, daytime and evening only |
| Ordinary city buses | Other districts | A few dirhams | Not from the terminal door; line 19 is the one built for the airport |
| Coaches (Supratours, CTM) | Essaouira, Agadir and other cities | About 80 to 140 dirhams | From their stations in town, not from the airport |
| Shared shuttles to other cities | Agadir, for example | About 25 to 45 euros per person | Book in advance, the van waits for several flights |
| Hotel shuttles | Some large resorts | Depends on the hotel | Ask the hotel or your tour operator |
Line 19: the 3 euro shuttle to the centre
Line 19 is the bus the city company ALSA runs for the airport. The stop is a short walk from the arrivals hall, towards the car park. The bus goes to Jemaa el-Fna, then Gueliz and the train station, and comes back to the airport. A single ticket costs 30 dirhams, about 3 euros, a return 50 dirhams. You pay the driver in cash, in dirhams. Ordinary city buses cost a few dirhams, but line 19 is the one designed for travellers with luggage.

Hours: check before relying on it
Sources disagree on the hours. One gives 6am to 9pm, a riad quoting the ALSA timetable gives 6.15am to 9.30pm, a travel blog gives 6.30am to 11.30pm. The safe reading: the bus covers the day and the evening, not the night. For a late landing, see taxis at night.
Three practical points
- Dirhams first. The driver takes cash in dirhams. Withdraw at the airport before you leave the terminal: see ATMs at the airport.
- Small notes. Change can be short on board.
- The last part on foot. The bus stops near Jemaa el-Fna, not at your riad. Count the walk in the lanes with your luggage.
To Essaouira, Agadir and other cities
We found no coach leaving from the airport terminal itself. Supratours and CTM run coaches to Essaouira and Agadir from their stations in town; the Supratours terminal is next to the train station, which bus 19 serves. Recent guides give about 80 to 140 dirhams for Essaouira and about 80 to 110 dirhams for Agadir, for a journey of around three hours. Shared shuttles that collect passengers at the airport are sold for about 25 to 45 euros per person to Agadir.
With luggage, children or a group, a private car avoids the two changes. See private transfers to other cities.
Bus or private car: the real comparison
| Group | Bus 19 | Private transfer |
|---|---|---|
| 1 person | 30 dirhams, about 3 euros | €20 |
| 2 people | 60 dirhams, about 6 euros | €20 |
| 4 people | 120 dirhams, about 12 euros | €20 |
| 7 people | 210 dirhams, about 21 euros | €20, the same vehicle |
The private transfer is a fixed price per vehicle, up to 7 passengers, to the Medina, Gueliz, Hivernage and the station. The bus is the cheapest choice alone or as a couple travelling light. From four people, or with large suitcases, or after dark, the gap shrinks and the car takes you to the gate closest to your riad. Other areas have their own prices on the price page.
Practical cases
A couple with backpacks, landing at 2pm
Take bus 19. Withdraw dirhams in the arrivals hall, walk to the stop, and you are at Jemaa el-Fna in about a quarter of an hour of driving for 60 dirhams in total.
A family of four with suitcases, staying in a riad
Four tickets cost about 12 euros, then the walk through the lanes with four suitcases. A private car at €20 stops at the closest gate and the driver points you to the riad. The difference is small; the effort is not.
A flight landing at 11pm
Depending on the source, the last bus has already left or is about to. Book a car in advance, or see what to expect at the taxi rank in the night taxi guide.
Going straight on to Essaouira
Bus 19 to the train station, then a Supratours coach from the terminal next door: the cheapest way, with two waits. A private car goes directly from the arrivals hall.
Mistakes to avoid
- Arriving without dirhams. The bus driver does not take cards.
- Counting on the bus late in the evening. The published hours do not agree.
- Expecting a coach to Essaouira at the terminal. Coaches leave from their stations in town.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a shuttle bus from Marrakech airport to the city centre?
Yes. The airport shuttle bus is line 19, run by the city bus company ALSA. It goes to Jemaa el-Fna, Gueliz and the train station for 30 dirhams, about 3 euros, per person.
How much is the bus from Marrakech airport to the centre?
30 dirhams one way, about 3 euros, and 50 dirhams return. You pay the driver in cash, in dirhams.
What time does the Marrakech airport bus run?
Published hours differ: from about 6am until somewhere between 9pm and 11.30pm depending on the source. Do not count on it for a late arrival.
Is there a bus from Marrakech airport to Essaouira or Agadir?
Not directly from the terminal in the sources we read. Supratours and CTM coaches leave from their stations in town, so you first need to reach the station, for example with bus 19 or a taxi.
Is a shuttle cheaper than a private transfer?
For one or two people, yes. From about seven people with luggage, a private vehicle at €20 costs less than seven bus tickets plus the walk with suitcases to the riad, and it goes to the door.
Do hotels run their own airport shuttle?
Some large resorts arrange transfers for their guests, often through tour operators. Ask your hotel before you travel.
