Private transfers from Marrakech to other cities

Distances, drive times and alternatives for the main routes out of Marrakech, and when a private vehicle is worth it.

By the Medina Transfers team  ·  Updated 14 October 2026

From Marrakech, a private vehicle reaches Imlil in about 1 hour 30, Essaouira in 2 hours 30 to 3 hours, Agadir in about 3 hours and Ouarzazate in about 4 hours. The price is for the vehicle, the driver takes you door to door, and the pick-up can be at the airport.

Planning a tour of several days rather than a single transfer? The Kingdom of Morocco runs private Sahara desert tours and circuits from Marrakech.

Figures are approximate. Mountain roads take longer than their distance suggests.

When a private transfer makes sense

  • You land and continue the same day. The driver waits outside arrivals and leaves directly for the coast or the mountains. No trip into town to find a coach station.
  • You travel as a family or a group. The price is per vehicle. From three or four passengers the difference with coach tickets narrows.
  • You carry surfboards, golf bags or a pushchair. Say so when you book and the vehicle is sized for it.
  • Your accommodation is off the main road. A riad in Essaouira's medina, a guesthouse above Imlil, a surf house in Tamraght: the driver takes you as close as a vehicle can go.

Route by route

Marrakech to Essaouira

The most requested route. The road crosses the plain towards the Atlantic. Essaouira's medina is closed to cars: vehicles stop at one of its gates, a short walk from most riads.

Marrakech to Agadir and Taghazout

A motorway links Marrakech to Agadir. Taghazout and Tamraght, the surf villages, are a further half hour up the coast.

Marrakech to Ouarzazate

The road climbs over the High Atlas by the Tizi n'Tichka pass. It is a mountain road with bends: allow about four hours and travel by day if you can. Ait Ben Haddou is a short detour before Ouarzazate.

Marrakech to Imlil

The starting point for Toubkal. The road leaves the plain at Asni and follows the valley up to the village.

Marrakech to Casablanca

Motorway all the way. The train is a real alternative between the two city centres; a private vehicle is mostly chosen for Casablanca airport or with a lot of luggage.

How to book

These routes do not have an online price yet. Choose Other destination in the booking form, give the city, the date and the number of passengers: we send you the price for the vehicle. For the drive times inside Marrakech, see distances from the airport.
