Arriving at Marrakech airport, step by step

From the aircraft door to the pavement outside: the order of the steps at Marrakech Menara Airport, how long they take, and where your transport waits.

By the Medina Transfers team  ·  Updated 12 October 2026

After landing at Marrakech Menara Airport you go through passport control, baggage reclaim and customs, in that order, before reaching the exit. With checked luggage, plan 30 to 60 minutes from landing to the pavement during busy periods. Taxis, the airport bus and pre-booked drivers all wait outside the arrivals hall.

The steps, in order

  1. Passport control

Follow the signs for Immigration. Have your passport and the address of your first night ready: officers may ask for the address and a phone number.

  2. Baggage reclaim

Screens show the carousel for each flight. Passport control and reclaim are on the same level.

  3. Customs

Green or red channel. Drones and professional video equipment may need to be declared.

  4. Cash and SIM card

ATMs and exchange counters are near baggage reclaim and by the exits. SIM counters for Orange, Maroc Telecom and inwi come after customs, and ask for your passport.

  5. The exit

Outside the hall you find the taxi rank, the stop of bus 19 by the car park, and the drivers of pre-booked transfers holding name boards.

How long it takes

The 30 to 60 minutes above is a busy-period figure for travellers with checked bags. It is why a pre-booked driver matters less for speed than for certainty: with Medina Transfers the driver follows your flight and waits 60 minutes after landing at no extra cost.

Getting into the city

  • Private transfer: booked before you travel, €20 per vehicle for 1 to 7 passengers. See the prices by vehicle.
  • Bus 19: 30 dirhams per person to Jemaa el-Fna and the station, daytime and evening. Full details in the bus 19 guide.

Two things worth doing before you fly

  • Write down the name of your riad or hotel and its phone number. It is asked at passport control and it is what a driver needs.
  • Carry some dirhams or a card that works abroad. The bus and many taxis take cash only.
